The only German war cemetery in Tunisia is located near the town of Borj Cedria, about twenty kilometers from Tunis.
There lies the graves of 8,562 German soldiers who fell during the Second World War, during the Tunisian campaign (November 1942-May 1943), or died in captivity.
At first, there was 6 german war cemeteries, in 6 different tunisian town. then in the 70ies they were all gathered in a single big one near Tunis.
Thus the cemetery is divided into 6 parts named by the original town where the bodies were buried.
The Bodies are put into big concrete cubes.
Soldiers relatives seems to continue come visiting the tombs and paying tributes.
some corps have no names, and some soldiers have never been found
