Not only an Icon of Tunis’s Skyline but also an icon of Brutalist architecture in the world.

With its ten stories, The Hotel du Lac, or “The inverted pyramid”
as many used to call it, was designed by the Italian architect Raffaele Contigiani and completed in 1973 (Source)

But, since the early 2000s, the building remained closed and abandoned for more than 2 decades,
even when it was bought by a Libyan Investment Company in 2010.









After Months of rumors about its demolition,
in August 2025, workers started being seen on the roof,
removig windows and dismantling the rooftop.
