Takrouna is small berber village located at some 100ish km south of Tunis in the Sahel region.
“The town’s name is thought to have originated from a tribe which immigrated to Andalusia in the 8th century. Following the expulsion of the Moors in 1609, immigrant families returned and settled in the village and gave it its name.” – more on wikipedia.
Once you get to the Top of the hill, you can get a breathtaking view of the ruins of the small village surrounded by nature.
Some people still live in the very low part of the hill, but the main old village is empty, you can visit the few decaying houses, a small zewya with a half collapsed dome and if you’re brave enough walk on the fragile roofs to get an even more better view.
