Do you ever stroll past a gorgeous door and wonder what silent ruin it’s desperately trying to keep in?

It was my case, for a long time, everytime i pass by Hammam Tammarine Door, in Bab Jedid, at the suburb of the Medina of Tunis.

Closed for more than a decade.

Until the day i could get inside and finally discovering this gorgeous and colorful turkish style hammam.

Traditional hammams used to have a very important place in the tunisian culture and way of life.

Needless to say, it was at the same time thrilling and exciting to walk inside such calm and empty place that used to be always busy and crowded with people for century or so.

The experience is near mystical, even more when we have in mind all those legends and grandma tales about happens inside empty hammams.
